Bidra med feedbackI had to find dockage here when the lake conditions became too rough. The staff was fantastic and assisted us in securing our boat expertly as the wind picked up. This marina is one of the safe harbor options along the Michigan shoreline, and since it's man-made, you're never more than 15 miles from a safe spot. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, and the town offers great restaurants and shops.
I just visited the site, and it's a charming marina located in a lovely small town.
I've loved this place since I was a child. Jumping off the break wall is always so much fun!
Restaurant is kinda pricey, but has good food, love watching boats.
I've been keeping my boat there for 4 years now for winter storage. I've had them do a lot of work for me over the past years. Last year they lost their seasoned management crew who went off cruising. There have been struggles and while I appreciate that, this year they had a green crew launching boats and had to reschedule my launch due to being behind, while not happy I worked with them, however, due to the rescheduling I was unable to participate as much as usual due to work obligations. The launch cost is part of the winter storage, however the mast step is extra. Well in my opinion they're all ready very high priced on that but this year I get a bill for $615 for a mast step! So in essence I have had to pay extra for their rescheduling of my launch and the fact that they had an inexperience crew. I would add that it did not include having them tune my rigging or anything like that they basically hooked up my cables and I went back and tuned everything afterwards, which is fine but $615. Minimal willingness to work with me on this. While I personally like the people that work there and the owner and I will say that they do good work just be aware you're going to pay for it dearly. I was expecting half that cost and honestly before coming to the marina I've never paid close to $600 for a basic mast step, the argument was how many hours it took and how many guys we're working it, it's not my fault that they were slow and we getting on the job training by the owner. Apparently when the marina can't meet their commitments or have experienced crew it is the expectation they can double their customer costs. It's unacceptable. I won't be having my mast down there again certainly and while I do like their staff and the convenience of the location, I'm actively reviewing other options. I will definitely not have anything done without getting the cost in writing up front in the future.
