Bam Bam Bakery - Portland

Bam Bam is incredible! We drive from Hampton, NH to Portland just to get their Honey Oat bread. It makes the best toast you will ever taste! My husband has a gluten intolerance, and we've tried many different brands from various shops. Some are decent, while others are terrible and tasteless. The drive is definitely worth it. We usually buy 7 or 8 loaves at once, slice them, and freeze them. While we’re there, we also indulge in their amazing pastries! My absolute favorite is their lemon squares—they're the best you'll ever have! My husband can't get enough of their whoopie pies, which are also fantastic! Whether you eat gluten-free or not, this bakery is simply the best!

Bam Bam is an excellent bakery, even if you don't have any gluten issues! Our family has dietary restrictions as we're both vegan and gluten-free, but the cakes and pastries are so delicious that you would never guess they are often free of both milk and gluten. Tina and her team truly exceed expectations with their dedication to using high-quality, flavorful ingredients. I highly recommend giving Bam Bam a try; you won't be disappointed! On April 8, 2022, I called to order a birthday cake but struggled for about two hours to get through. Frustrated, I decided to visit the bakery in person during my work break. When I arrived, I saw that there was only one staff member who could manage the phones, which I completely understood. I spoke with her and explained my cake needs. She took my order and assured me that I could pick up my mother’s 60th birthday cake on Sunday, April 10th. I wanted to ensure it would be something enjoyable for her, especially considering some family members have food allergies. On Sunday morning, my partner went to pick up the cake, and it was still being frosted. The staff member assured them it would hold up for travel. However, after a two-hour drive and opening the cake, I was heartbroken to find that it had split down the middle, with the top three layers separated and the frosting melted. I had hoped to surprise my mom, but the cake was a mess, with far more frosting than cake. The cake had also started to form inside within just seven days, which was surprising. Additionally, I had ordered some cookies and macarons, but the macarons weren't fully baked. After this experience, I’m not sure if I'll return. I never had similar issues when they were located on Commercial Road. I tried to discuss my concerns with the owner, but they are currently closed, so I'm sharing my review here.

First time in! Anyone looking for a gluten free treat and hasn’t found this place is missing out. The owner is so nice and has worked so hard. I’m not gluten free but everything I had was delicious.

I love bam bam. If no one else appreciate them I do! Why because they restored confidence in eating deliciously made items for a balance of gluten and dairy free which I AM..I have choices lots of them!.. never disappointed.. believe me when I said I HAVE followed them around! And will do it again!!! All the way from MASS!!!!!
