Bidra med feedbackMy friends and I had dinner last night at Davenport. It was my my 4th time there and my friends' first. The food is outstanding. Oysters, home made pate, salads, veggies, pasta dishes, meat and fish are prepared to perfection by the chefs. The wine list is in sync with the food. The staff is friendly and kind, tending to their guests with ease and confidence. Davenport is a neighborhood gem and also one of the best places to eat in Portland. My friends thanked me for taking them. Looking forward to the next indulgence!
Overall, food was disappointing. The worst offender was the the scallops which both wasn't a great dish with a watery salad, but also just felt crappy to just get two scallops for the price. The steak was not great, and the mushrooms with it were squishy, and the salad completely undressed. Overall this feels like a wine place where food is an after thoughht. The pate wasn't served with any bread. Just didn't feel good for the price.
I remember really liking this place, but on this visit it was really underwhelming. Nothing was terrible, but nothing really stood out either. The fried squash appetizer tasted like oil and breadcrumbs and I couldn't taste the squash. The cauliflower soup was under-salted. My favorite thing was the bread...
Service was good, atmosphere was fair. Appetizers were good but the mains we had were slightly overdone and quite salty.
Incredible evening with the deliciousness of out of this world food! Thank you, Davenport!
