Bidra med feedbackThe best Chinese restaurant in Portland. Everything is great, service is excellent. Try the dumplings in Chile oil!!!! Only place I know of that includes Lamb as well. I have eaten here both take out and in person too many times to count and have never, ever, not once been disappointed!!
Bad: Fried Rice and Chow Mein had no flavor, just bland and oil. Good: Xiao Long Bao were great and my wife loved the Honey Walnut Prawns (Mayo on shrimp isnt my jam but it was very good if you like that).
Pretty authentic chinese with some American touches. Don’t expect PF Chang’s general Tso or orange chicken. While I didn’t try that, there are other dishes I would highly suggest other dishes over those here. Must try: the Szechuan beef noodle soup. It’s probably a spicy level 1/5, but so delicious. The noodles are perfect and the beef is so tender it falls apart with the slightest touch. Next must is the Dan Dan noodles. Very slightly spicy, but more rich than the BNS. Same noodles as the soup, so still perfect. I promise all better than my pics lead on. Also tried the pork XLB. Truthfully, not the best I’ve had. The wrapper is thick and they don’t use enough fat in the stuffing so it’s a little dry. Lastly, the dried cooked green beans were a touch salty and not spicy despite the spicy looking peppers. Only got because I like to ensure we have a veggie. Note that the chow mein portions are huge. One order of those and a dumpling/ potsticker order should suffice for two people, one more smaller dish if you’re starving. Lastly, the staff was a touch slow at times, but very kind and helpful. Try to keep bearing in mind that there are many more of us than them these days so be patient. Not fancy despite the place itself looking kind of fancy. Wore my “athleisure” outfit and husband wore bball shorts and we fit right in. Came on a Saturday around 7:45 and no wait, but plenty of people. All staff were wearing masks
We got there 15 minutes after it opened and it was getting busy. But everything was great from the service, the communication and the food. We ordered the soup dumplings and szechuan chili oil wontons. Moving from bay area in California, I can be a bit picky and snobby when it comes to Asian food. But this really hit the spot in quality and taste. Also the service made it a lot better of an experience. Also they have a full bar which is genius! We will come back.
We ordered three dishes for 2 people. The beef roll is delicious, love the thin wrap. The stir fried green beans is a bit salty. The beef and tofu dish had lots of tofu and beef in there but it has too much liquid, it’s also the wrong kind of tender tofu for this dish. Overall everything taste good, big portion, we were not able to finish everything.
