Bidra med feedbackI have only been to their station at the Montavilla Farmers Market. The food I had was fantastic. I never thought I liked Tamales but their tamales are SO good. My favorite is the Popeye Tamale it's vegetarian and has spinach, it's delicious smothered in salsa Verde. One of these days I will check out the brick and mortar restaurant.Vegetarian options: YesKid-friendliness: YesParking: Free street parkingWheelchair accessibility: YesDietary restrictions: Vegetarian options
The food is delicious, like incredibly good, the service is not good. It’s been months since I was back here because it takes a long time to get your food, or water, or a drink, and it hasn’t changed. The family that runs this restaurant is so nice and I like supporting them. But the service seems to be getting worse over time. I recommend visiting in the summer when you have a lot of time to wait on the patio.
The food was fresh and delicious, from the carnitas burrito, the handmade blue corn tortillas, pork ribs in mole sauce, and chicken. There were more things to try that sounded good, but the mole sauce was clearly the star.Food: 5/5
Great service! Atmosphere enjoyable. It seems a overpriced at first, but when you get your plate you can see most of it is lorth the price. The food is fresh and the portions are large. We took half our food home and ate the next day. The only complaints: 1. They charge $3.50 for a can of soda or a bottle of soda, not a specialty soda. Coke and diet coke. It's a little ridiculous since there aren't any refills. Definitely overpriced drinks. However, we would definitely go again and not order sodas. 2. The chicken burrito bowl with absolutely yummy, but there was scarcely any chicken in it. If you're going to get a rice and bean breathable it should be a lot less money. Had they put a reasonable amount of chicken in the bowl It would have been worth it, but I literally had to search for the chicken and the pieces were tiny. I would estimate maybe a fourth of a cup of chicken in that whole bowl. Maybe they were short that night and that's not normal ly the case Two meals, no alcohol, a side of guacamole, with tip was over $60.00. (to give you an idea of pricing).
Maa-a-aan, I really don't like doing reviews like this, but, especially considering the stellar ratings, I feel like I have to say ... something. I had the Costillas de Puerco and she had the Tamal Oaxaceño plus chips and salsa. You can tell from the order, we were jazzed at the idea of some real Oaxacan mole! Her dish had the mole negro and mine was more a mole coloradito. Things were looking pretty good during unpacking, really attractive... looking. Unfortunately, the dishes were only barely above room temperature. I know that some folks believe mole should be served warm, not hot, let's say 140F. Nick at Mi Mero Mole was a proponent. But this was more like 100, not a food safe temperature. Nonetheless, we dived in and hopefully will not regret it ; We were hoping for mole redolent of fruits, nuts and spices we had never tasted before, ... but what we got was only different from store-bought by being a bit more hot, not face-melting, but reasonably hot, enough to make me sniffly. My ribs were tough, not slow cooked until fork tender at all. Her tamale didn't even meet the quality of street tamales bought from abuelas pulling coolers down the streets of Houston, such a disappointment. It's not bad food, it's just average, average, average. For us at least, why bother, better Mexican food is readily available, including better mole, or just get some La Costeña or Doña Maria mole sauce at the store, but try to simmer things for a few hours at least, covered in the oven or in a slow cooker, adding the mole an hour or hour and a half before serving and making sure the meat is falling off the bone tender.
