Maxwells On Bentinick - Portland

Had breakfast here. I had bacon and eggs and sausage and hashbrown. My husband an omelette. He liked the omelette but my breakfast was swimming in grease. The eggs were not very hot.

Had lunch, my bank card didn't work, the older lady on the staff got frustrated over something simple and that's easily fixed when I used a different card. friends bought soft drink that was out of date and the same lady again got annoyed when we asked to swap. She was very unpleasant

We had driven to Portland from Mount Gambier and found Maxwell's on Bentinck Street.We were warmly welcomed and we ordered toasted sandwiches with coffee as it was lunch time.The meal and coffees were served hot with a friendly smile.Nice place to pause and enjoy.

This was our second visit for lunch and the quality of food was consistently good. Well presented and good sized meals and happy pleasant staff provided us with a tasty food experience.

Visited here twice within a week for different meals. Lunch on the first occasion and breakfast on the return. Found the meals to be very nice. I had the Maxwells' wedges (wedges with cheese, bacon and spring onion on top and served with sour cream and sweet chili). They were nice but I have to make a special mention to the meal I had on the second visit which was avocado, tomato, bacon and feta on sourdough toast- that was particularly tasty. It wasn't exactly on the menu but I asked to swap smoked salmon for bacon and the staff were more than happy to oblige. My fiancee had the trio of fish on the first occasion (they had run out of prawns but compensated him with extra fish and squid) and on the second occasion had the big breakfast which he was happy with. We have nothing bad to say about the staff; they seemed either busy with their work or friendly towards us. Overall happy with the experience.
