District - Portsmouth

Last experience wasn’t so good. So a year later I give these folks another try. All I can say is they will not get anymore of my money. Turkey wings weren’t cleaned good. Collards bitter probably weren’t cleaned good either! Yams just yuck no flavor. And the rice and gravy tasted good cause I added seasoning!!! Home cooked meals are the best just cook!!!

We stopped here after visiting the Children's Museum. When you walk in, you can tell they were short staffed. Our waitress was great, though! She really did look out for us and made sure we got our food in a timely manner. I got the fried chicken wings, collard greens, mac n cheese, and a side order of yams. The chicken was season, the collards were good, the mac n cheese was okay, and the yams were not that sweet at all. My husband got turkey chops, collards, and Mac n cheese. He really enjoyed his meal. My daughter had fried chicken and French fries. You also get cornbread, and that was really sweet. In all, I would go back again.Parking: It's by the restaurant but limited space.

We were looking for a good lunch. We stumbled on a superb lunch. The southern cuisine at District restaurant was outstanding! It has been my experience that southern restaurants have bland tasting food. Not at Districts. Our meals were perfect. Our waiter, Tarnisha, was also perfect and friendly. The ambiance is cool and laid back. I will return very soon. BTW. Their prices are fantastic. Probably 30% less expensive than most southern style restaurants

A couple weeks ago I went to celebrate my birthday with one of my friends and my sister and had a great time. My cocktail wasn't a little too sweet for my liking but food and service were impeccable! Tarnisha was an excellent host! I had the turkey wing dinner with cabbage, yams and cornbread. Everything was seasoned to perfection and delicious. The wings were a decent size and fell off the bone. Definitely looking forward to going back and trying something new.

Went here on a Sunday after church looking for a good cooked Southern meal. Let me tell you they did not disappoint. They sat us down immediately at a table. It was very hard making a decision off the menu because everything was worth a try. Once we decided what we wanted the food came out very quickly. The Mac and Cheese was to die for, must order that. Definitely will be back again.
