Bidra med feedbackThe food is great, but the real draw is the ambience. It's an old style restaurant with a 1920s feel. I think the guy sitting next to me is Herbert Hoover, but I'm not sure.
Breakfast was 100% a great experience. Dinner however needs some work. When we first arrived the host stand was vacant and there was no host working. We were finally seated after waiting several minutes. They were not very busy. The server did not seem happy that we did not order an appetizer when we found out the menu we were given for appetizers was not available in the Dining Room and was only for the Bar. We were not made aware of this upon being seated. Also, when we placed our entree order, I mentioned I wanted to keep the wine menu to order something to come with my dinner. However, the next time the server showed up was when the dinner came out so I ordered my wine then. It took about 10 minutes before the wine arrived to be able to enjoy my meal properly. The server did not show up again until the end of the meal to clear plates. We decided we would try the Peacock Bar for dessert and enjoy the music, however, that did not happen either. We voiced our concerns at the front desk after being told there was no manager on duty that evening. We were told at checkout the next morning that our concerns were sent to the restaurant manager. It has now been 50+ hours and we have received no emails or phone messages to discuss our experience.
I haven't had much of their food yet, but their drinks are average. Every cocktail I've had there comes with a maraschino cherry. I've had three different cocktails there. I don't know why they put cherries in everything. Had a grumpy bartender one day who just came back from vacation and was annoyed that, none of his working conditions had changed. Ambience is nice. I would go back, but if I have the same results, probably not again after that.
We stayed at the Hassayampa Hotel for 3 nights and visited the Peacock restaurant 3 times. Once for dinner and twice for breakfast. On each visit the wait time for a table was long even though there were many open tables. It appeared that they were understaffed. There was no person at the hostess stand and the servers were busy taking orders and delivering food. On our second visit for breakfast I tried to make a reservation by phone 2 times but no one answered. On the third try I called the front desk and they took my information and delivered it to the restaurant. Even with a reservation we waited a long time to be seated. The dinner food was less than acceptable. The onion soup was too salty to eat and was returned to the kitchen. The Orange Roughly was bland. Our server Brianna did not check on us until I was almost finished with my dinner. The 2 breakfasts were very good. They consisted of French toast, Oatmeal and Hash Brown potatoes. The hotel experience was excellent and reviewed separately.
I have been coming to Prescott for 13 years now averaging about every 2 years. I have seen this restaurant on every visit but never stopped by until last Sunday for dinner. The Peacock Room is located in the old and charming Hassayampa Inn in downtown Prescott just off the town square and about 2 blocks from Whiskey Row. It has one dining room that's attached to another smaller room that connects to the separate bar area. In the bar was a man playing piano and singing classic hits and that music was spilling over into the dining room. The dining room is simple in decor and does give the feel of old and simple Western elegance. I ordered the Australian lamb shank entree for $32 and added a house salad for another $6.50. First to arrive was a complimentary sliced baguette with a small bowl of house made dipping oil vinaigrette with a hint of lemon and some sliced Parmesan cheese on top. It was different and very enjoyable. Next was the salad with an iceberg wedge and red beet curls, Roma tomatoes and pumpkin seeds with my substituted ranch dressing for the bleu cheese dressing listed on the menu. The salad was very good. It was a quality salad and well worth the price. The entree arrived immediately after and served in a bowl. There was plenty of delicious meat on the bone and the creamy roasted garlic polenta with au jus and veggies on top was perfect and I mean perfect. That polenta had so much rich flavor that I couldn't get enough of it. I believe this was the best lamb shank I have ever had with the polenta putting it over the top. The table service was warm and friendly and the food came out very quickly and professionally delivered. I left stuffed and very pleased. This meal was an easy 5 score to me. I don't know if the Peacock Room is as good with every entree but this one impressed me. I will return here.
