Bidra med feedbackGreat service with friendly waitresses. I had the French gnocchi with blue cheese, pear, spinach and almonds and it was delicious. I also had a couple of spoons of my friend's delicious sticky date pudding. Yum.
Tremendous food (the calamari entree was delicious in particular, but everything else was a very good standard), great wine and friendly service in a beautiful setting. Thank you!
Just had dinner here this evening. Overall, the food was delicious. The highlight for me was the roast duck. Cooked really well and very tasty. The beef fillet was good, but not spectacular I was told. The scallop entree there was way too much chorizo crumb, so much so the scallop was very raw and bland. Service at Athelstane has room for improvement. Either they are not attentive or there needs to be more staff. Nobody checked in with us. We waited so long for the dessert menu, we gave up left.
Enjoyable stay.....but... !!. We had an enjoyable 3 night stay here mid April and had dinner in the restaurant on our last night there. The west-up in the restaurant was as per the décor for breakfast, nothing real fancy. My wife enjoyed her Barramundi (fish of the day) and the pavlova. I ordered what was described as Twice cooked duck leg ; it arrived comprising only the drumstick . I mentioned the size to the waitress, however I had the distinct impression that she thought I was joking. Apparently plenty of accompaniments were there to make up for the small serving of duck, Athestane have a large range of wimes, however I had some concern regarding the mark-up and we decided on a glass each rather than a bottle.
Susan Collins.. Great weekend.! Staff could not have been more helpful and obliging. We booked a small standard room and it had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Breakfast,(included in the tariff)was generous and delicious .Would definitely recommend this Boutique Hotel.
