In the shadowed confines of Quitman's own Skidmore's, where the walls whisper tales of yore, I found myself seated, awaiting a feast of such magnitude that even the ravenous maw of the Red Death would pause in its grim pursuit. The fare, oh how it beckoned! With seafood so sweet, it could've lured the most discerning of sirens from their briny depths. Yet, amidst this culinary carnival, a dish lay before me, its steak bereft of char, its flavor as elusive as the specter of Lenore. But let not despair take hold, for the buffet's bounty was vast and varied, a veritable cornucopia where the seafood shone brightest. The waitresses, kind spirits in their own right, glided through the room with a grace that belied the mortal coil. Alas, a star must be withheld, for time, that cruel and unyielding master, did stretch the minutes into hours as we awaited our repast. A minor specter in an otherwise delightful haunt. Thus, with a quill dipped in the inkwell of my soul, I scribe these words: Skidmore's, thou art a jewel in the crown of Quitman, a place where the ghost of Poe might find solace and sustenance. Four stars I bequeath thee, for thine culinary delights and spectral charm.
Everything on the menu is amazing!! Wonderful people, fabulous service and right-at-home atmosphere!!
I recently dined at skidmore and was enchanted by its welcoming and cozy atmosphere, reminiscent of a bustling school cafeteria where locals gather. The food exudes and authentic, old world charm, evoking memories of traditional Southern cuisine. I especially recommend indulging in their breakfast offerings, and don’t miss out on trying their tea during lunch. Skidmore is a charming establishment that captures the essence of classic dining experiences. Highly recommend if new to town or visiting!
Food was good however the place could use a good cleaning.
