Melao Cafe Creamery - Rahway

Melao is a remarkable coffee shop in town that serves up delightful rolled ice cream, offers unique seating arrangements, and provides attentive service. The staff, composed mainly of friendly local teenagers and young adults, enhances the inviting atmosphere. Their pastries are fresh, and there’s an extensive selection of juices as well. The menu boasts a variety of waffles, sandwiches, and vegan options. Usually, there is ample seating available. I've sampled their iced coffees and frappes, which tend to be on the sweeter, dessert-like side. Though their coffee is decent, it doesn’t quite measure up to standout places like Blue Bottle or Abraco in NYC. Overall, Melao delivers good coffee. It’s also worth noting that not many patrons seem to wear masks for safety, and their operating hours are quite flexible for Rahway, where many establishments close early.

I had never experienced rolled ice cream before, and it was amazing! I chose the vegan chocolate flavor, which included espresso beans and was drizzled with dark chocolate sauce. It was absolutely delicious!

If I could give this restaurant a lower rating, I definitely would. I ordered a Turkey Panini, but the bread was so soggy that the entire sandwich fell apart. Taking a bite was like eating bread soaked in water. The Custom Waffle bore no resemblance to the picture; it had a completely different shape and texture, and was served ice cold and rock hard. I can’t recommend this place unless you have a particular fondness for soggy bread.

Melao Cafe is one of the top places to unwind in the neighborhood. They serve amazing food, drinks, and snacks that cater to everyone. I, for one, can't resist the Goober Supreme rolled ice cream since I'm a big fan of peanut butter. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and they organize fantastic events each month, such as spoken word poetry and live performances. They also offer special treats for dogs! Be sure to check it out—you won't regret it!

The staff at this restaurant is amazing! The coffee is exceptional, and the food is delicious! The ambiance is cozy and welcoming. I can easily picture myself studying here! This was my first visit, and I've utterly fallen in love with this place!
