Alternative Fuel Coffee House

The drinks we ordered were tasty, but it took too long to receive them, possibly due to understaffing. The staff could have been friendlier and seemed flustered, lacking in willingness to assist with making a choice. It was my first visit, so I had some questions about the drinks, but they weren't very helpful. The place had a charming atmosphere, was bustling with customers, and offered a cozy local option to Starbucks with cute decor.

I had a fantastic experience at Alternative Fuel, a charming little coffee shop located on Main Street square. It's conveniently situated next to the park. I tried their breakfast options - a delicious bagel sandwich and a farmer's quiche. The owner was friendly and passionate about using local ingredients. The smoothies were refreshing and the espresso was outstanding. Alternative Fuel definitely surpassed my expectations. I highly recommend stopping by for a visit!

Unfortunately, the latte I ordered was incorrectly made twice at this restaurant. I asked for an iced almond latte, but they made it hot instead. When they attempted to correct their mistake, they just poured the hot latte over ice. I ended up throwing it away after just one sip. On a positive note, the little breakfast burrito I ordered was delicious and deserving of a 5-star rating. I may consider returning to try something other than the coffee, perhaps a smoothie. The restaurant has curb-cuts for accessibility and the cafe offers a variety of seating options including tables, chairs, and armchairs. There is street parking and a parking garage nearby, with accessible spots available but not extremely close. The menu includes a variety of drinks, smoothies, burritos, pastries, and even merchandise like shirts and earrings. The staff is friendly and there are restrooms available in the shopping complex where the restaurant is located. The atmosphere is cozy and service animals are welcome. Overall, the restaurant is kid-friendly.

Delicious coffee! Amazing pastries! Delightful atmosphere! Kind and helpful staff! The perfect music in the background. We should know!! After unexpectedly spending 6 days in Rapid City in the dead of winter, Alternative Fuel became our silver lining!! We not only came back every day (played cards at our table while enjoying watching ice skating, made several new friends, enjoyed a sweet visit with the owner), but once we finally headed where we were supposed to go, we planned our trip home around passing through Rapid and getting one last cup for the road! Our favorite by far was the dirty chai nog!! But we tried a few others as well and they were great too! Don?t pass up on the pastries or the quiche. Can?t wait to drive through again and treat ourselves.

A hidden gem in downtown Rapid City! Very friendly staff, great coffee and eats. Such an inviting little coffee shop for weary travelers taking in the beauty of the area. Definitely stop in if you find yourself in the Black Hills!
