After reading all of the wonderful reviews on-line and in Reykjavik travel guides upon arrival, my mom and I definitely wanted to find this food truck and eat a lobster roll. Unfortunately, both of us were thoroughly disappointed. A large costs about 25 US dollars; thank goodness my mom and I split one and we each did not order a sandwich. On my half were maybe three tiny pieces of langostino. Basically I ate a bun with a little lettuce and an abundance of a mayonnaise sauce. For anyone who has eaten a true lobster roll, this was an enormous disappointment.
Local vacation of the lobster sandwich, salad, fun, not like new england, or anywhere else, it was fun and interesting snack.
Was walking from Harpa and just looking to buy a drink, but was intrigued by the food. My son and I split a small lobster sandwich. It was really nicely balanced, loved the garlic sauce and the veggies on it. I must have timed it right, no lines or waiting at all. I might just get a large one next time!
I read the reviews and decided to try this when I was out late last September. It did not disappoint! I went back to Reykjavik last month and arrived about an hour before he was set up and ready to go....it was well worth the wait! I chatted with the man working and he was very nice.
Sorry but this was my worst meal in Iceland. Being my first langoustine experience I was so excited to try since I am a HUGE fan of lobster. The roll had way too much lettuce and the mayo they used put me off and tasted gross. The langoustine tasted fishy or something. I ended up throwing most of this in the trash. This place made me afraid to try langoustine again (which I did at Jokulsarlon and the langoustine redeemed itself).
