Sugar's Crab Shack - Richmond

Visiting family in Richmond, Sugar’s was top on our list. We ordered fried soft shell crab, soft shell crab sandwich, oysters, catfish sandwich, catfish salad and cornbread. Everything was delicious. The wait on a 90 evening was appropriately long, with good music and other customers with whom to share what we ordered and kvetch about the heat. Took home to enjoy with Richmond beer. We’ll be back!

Got two dinners. First time customer. Food was delicious, seasoned well, hot and plentiful. Each dinner came with a 4pc fried fish, 4 big fried Oysters, 4 big fried shrimp, fries and toast. Cole slaw was included but We didn't eat it. Tarter sauce, was very good. Had about a 45min wait for the food to get done and we waited about 8min in line to order. Overall it was worth it. I would definitely eat from here again and recommend it.

Everything was hot and amazing flavor! If I would have received my fry that came with my fish sandwich, they would have received ALL 5 STARS!

Nice staff but the food was terrible This place was highly recommended by a friend so I decided to try them for the holiday. We arrived at 11:30am to beat the crowd we were warned about. Service was fast, received my order in about 10 mins but the food was horrible. It tasted like the food was fried in old grease and the fries were greasy and soggy. The fish wasn't seasoned at all on top of the terrible grease taste. This trip was so disheartening for our holiday meal, especially because of the hype and great reviews.

Sugar's fried catfish and trout were perfectly done. They did not have soft shell crabs on this trip darn it. As elsewhere, prices have gone up, but Sugar's is still a very good value.Parking: If the parking lot is full, Sugar's requests that you do not block their delivery access. Street parking is nearby.
