Bidra med feedbackArrival at our originally preferred dining destination “ chi star “ around 17.30 clock, we were formed by the line that is outside the packed restaurants! an immediate, sixth generation jet fighter like, 180 degrees spin, we drove the “Hwy #7 Stretch...” on the look for another acceptable alternative. pass the “New Choice”, we agree to give this decades-long iconic richmond hill cantonese wok heu spezialist a long overdue visit. in a less than half empty restaurant, after the “ chi star experience ” just a few minutes back, it was only natural that we all felt a little understanding for this rather unusual and quiet scenario! Nevertheless, we have decided to stay and give the place an attempt. finally they managed to survive through covid! the menu was extremely huge and diverse, with a lot of authentic, traditional Cantonese, domestic specialties. the dishes, our party of four selected, including a few to test from the kitchen the wok-hut capability of the kitchen included the following: fried pork chop with thousand island glaze sweet, tangy and lippen taste good stirring fry gai lan chinese kale with cut bark gorgeous wok hay! the bark was beautifully seasoned, well melicized and caramelized! a very well made dish! sauteed bc clams with a sweet, acidic and spicy Thai sauce an exotic tasting and various preparation methods. another praise worthy lip-painting dish! die fry lotus root and house healed salted pork with fermented brown beans curd! an exotic tasting with a lively taste profile. an acquired taste that can grow on it. stirred franse squid with preserved Chinese senf green in black bean sauce. another nicely prepared dish loaded with Wok-Hay aroma. squid was tender and perfectly cooked. wonderful sose. free supper of the day black bone, chicken feet and sun-dried sweet everything in everything, a most pleasant and well executed meal at an amazing price-point!...IMO, one of the best price-performance ratio of richmond hill, casual, cantonese wok Hay dining, offers delicious food! bravo for still strong after all the years! btw, the restaurant began to fill after we passed in our order. it was totally packed when we were gone at 7:00 a.m.!
The food of the new restaurant is good. But what I hate about this restaurant is greedy. They added the service fee without telling the customer and they treated you worse if you don't give them any extra tips when you are there. They increased their menu prices 3 or 4 times in 2019. I'll never go there again. I hope they will close soon.
We ordered 3 dishes, a stir-fried fish filet, a shredded cucumber with dried shrimps and vermicelli, and black pepper pork stomach with preserved vegetables. All were not bad with taste on the light side, presumably many customers now prefer less salt, less oil. The bill...includes a mandatory service charge which other Chinese restaurants usually left at the customer's discretion. Overall ok.
The good: one of the most authentic Chinese foods in the city. much sweet. best value for her money. the bad: the toilets could be cleaner.
Anyone who is popular in the late night. Beef noodles, mussels in black bean and everything else. Great for lunch
