Norma's Corner Shoppe - Ridgewood

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30 PM. Right away, it was clear that the venue is quite small, with a few outdoor tables and no indoor seating. Fortunately, we found a corner table outside where we could also park our baby stroller. The interior is simple and charming, with an orderly line, as patrons efficiently crowded inside to place their orders. One aspect that really impressed me was the staff's exceptional customer service. A young woman in front of me had an emotional outburst due to anxiety over her choices, and the staff handled it with remarkable patience and understanding, clearly recognizing her possible special needs. Another positive observation was the racial diversity among the staff. The food and drink menus are displayed by the register, offering a wide variety of unique sandwich options and drinks. If you order a drink, you need to wait inside, which can be a bit hectic due to the crowd. However, if you order food, the staff will come outside to deliver it to you. I tried the New Yorker sandwich, and it was fantastic! The toasted bread and the spicy bacon were especially delicious. I also ordered Norma's Ole coffee, which had a great balance. For dessert, I had a banana chocolate muffin and a peanut butter cookie, both of which were flavorful and had a wonderful texture. There was a small mix-up with my order, and my wife received a Ranchero on the house, which was a lovely gesture that we truly appreciated—resulting in an extra $10 tip for the staff! Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Norma's Corner Shoppe, and I'm definitely planning to return to Ridgewood to explore more, as Timeout may have hit the nail on the head with their recommendation.

It's alright. However, the wait time for a simple coffee is at least 8 minutes.

My sandwich took a while to prepare, but they gave me a complimentary cookie, so it was alright. The food was really good as well!

Norma's is absolutely fantastic and might just be one of my top three spots for breakfast. They serve amazing sandwiches, and be sure to treat yourself to something sweet while you're there. The wait can be lengthy, especially on weekends, but it's definitely worth it! I love you, Norma's!

What a charming little place! I visited with a large group and we placed our order online. Everyone found something enjoyable, whether it was sandwiches or pastries, and the vegan options were excellent as well. Even though they were understandably busy at noon on a Sunday, our order arrived in a timely manner. I wish I had caught the names of the two staff members who assisted us at the counter; they were both incredibly kind and helpful! Overall, we had a fantastic first experience and can’t wait to return and try some of the dishes that other reviewers have recommended.
