Red Chilli Food Bar - Rivervale

The food here - pretty standard Chinese - is quite good, and reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is quite modest - though far from ugly or uninviting. Nearly all the business (at least when I was there) was takeaway. I only ate in because I was staying in a nearby hotel.The front of house/order taker was a singularly cheerless youth. Very few words escaped his mouth, and even fewer smiles. Actually,none. Somehow I don't think he is looking at a long-term career in the hospitality business.

The setting is nothing flash, but the menu choices and the helpful staff compensated for this. The meal was well priced. A good place to eat.

Looking for a good quality typical Chinese takeaway, try this one, you can't go wrong. Nothing spectacular but will not let you down.

Staying nearby we walked to grab dinner,Ordered duck with plum sauce which was fantastic bone free with a perfect tempura coating, crispy and fresh.Special fried rice which was delicious.King prawn chow mein which was ok - not the same as we are use to prawns ok, not much veg, tons of noodles and a soyish based sauce made it more like noodles from a wok place.Also had honey chicken which was good. We would return to eat here.
