Gus's Seafood - Riverwood

Dad went up to get some grilled fish one time last year when the place on Belmore Road was shut. We asked what he thought. He said, "meh". When pressed, ("isn't it "the best seafood in town"?" he said, it's just seafood. The place on Belmore Road, go there instead. Good food, quick, good chips, very reliable garden salad, tasty pineapple fritters.

We bought take-away fish and chips here. Service was friendly, prompt and efficient. Offers were clearly and patiently explained. But best of all, the fish was a generous size, crispy and not too oily. Chips were good.

I 've only ever stuck to ordering certain items on the menu here as some things in the past I 've ordered were a hit or miss, but my favourites are definitely the 'Dinner pack ' and the 'Fish burger '. The fish is not your typical beer batter, it is crumbed whiting which really melts in your mouth as you eat it. The homemade spring roll also isn 't bad, tastes much better than the chiko rolls you get from the corner store. Majority of the items are coated in the same beer batter which is not my favourite thing but in small quantities is fine. However, in terms of value, I would still say its considered cheap and reasonable when you look at the quantity they give you in the meals. Also, the 'homemade ' tartare sauce is quite nice if you 're willing to spare a few dollars for a small pot of it. As a local business, they 've been there for many years and I will continue to support them.
