Taste Of Philly - Roanoke

First off in my opinion, the food is awesome,but the atmosphere is disgusting, it's cool that you can watch them make your food,but looking at the floors, the walls,sitting in this place makes you wanna vomit,the ceilings,are gross,they need to really rehab this place, and deep,deep clean it up,better yet,move to another location,it has no air conditioning, when you use the bathroom there's feces on the wall,the toilet is sooo rusted out,just move to a newer location,but that's why I have to call in my food and do a pick up, also when you're not using your condiments such as mayo,cover it up,I'm afraid something from that ceiling will fall in the food.but the food is 10/10 no cap!!!!!

Where has this place been my whole life?! The Philly Cheesesteak is next level good. Got mine with the peppers and mushrooms and was blown away by the flavor. The staff is fun and friendly. The atmosphere is great but basic and sparse. I sat in a boot near the refrigerator coolers and by a speaker playing 80’s rock.. not fancy, but perfect!

The sandwiches were amazing! Best cheesesteak sandwich of my life. The 2 guys working were personable and quick to help me.

Only complaint was apparently one order being cooked at a time, was relatively slow when I stopped in but almost 45 minutes for 2 cheese steaks and a small order of fries, the cheese steaks were great for a place outside the northeast corridor

Well it was quiet, with some folks waiting for their orders and nobody waiting behind me. I was asked if I wanted jalapeño, and the menu really didn’t list what the options were for toppings/additions. I did get it with banana pepper, mushrooms, onion(although it was hard to tell they were there visibly and flavor wise, and the same holds true for other toppings except cheese. and the pepper and scant few canned shrooms added an extra $1 to the 6” sandwich. Which was fine but not great. It’s been a while since I’d had my true Philly Cheesesteak experience at its birthplace. This experience was ok, and solidified my opinion that I prefer the Chicago Italian Beef sandwich, definitely more flavorful.
