For the first time with my friend on Georgie's bakery and we ordered the Cuban sandwich with Fritten. OMG... it was delicious. So far the best Cuban sandwich we had. Will definitely go back.

During a trip to the nail salon for my friend's wedding, we stumbled upon a sign advertising Cuban sandwiches at a bakery. It seemed like an unusual combination, but we were famished and I started researching food options during my pedicure. My boyfriend decided to grab some food and satisfy our hunger. The owners, a sweet couple, had been running the family-owned shop for years and everything was homemade. Unfortunately, their grandchildren showed no interest in taking over the business, so the shop may not be around much longer. I highly recommend trying their delicious Cuban sandwich before they close. They only stay open until late afternoon because they start preparing food at 4am. Despite the shop possibly being overlooked in the area, the food and conversation make it a worthwhile stop.

Georgie 's Bakery and Cafe is known for many good things. Great pastries, of course... so nice that you have to be an early bird to get your hands on one. But as you read the (many) five-star reviews, you 'll note that Georgie 's Cuban is the talk of the town. Now, I 'm not a purist when it comes to Cuban sandwiches. I 've enjoyed quite a few and every restaurant has its take on the fabled sandwich. Georgie 's Bakery and Cafe has taken liberties here and there. First, this is not a pressed sandwich. Georgie 's is a bakery (of course) and the roll they use is baked on-premise and extremely fresh. Eschewing the traditional ingredients of your stereotypical Cuban sandwich, the sandwich is more like a hot sub. Ham, turkey, lettuce, onions, a mayonnaise sauce and onions are what I think is the standard complement. I order mine mit out onions and am always satisfied with the result. I 've had the distinct pleasure of introducing several friends to Georgie 's and I suspect they will return the favor and turn their friends onto this scrumptious Cuban-esque sandwich!
