Bidra med feedbackI'd like to like this place, but the food just isn't good. I've given it several chances too, thinking maybe I just ordered the one item that is lacking in flavor. But I've been to Tartine at least half a dozen times. And I can't give a good review for any of the entrees I've had which are also quite pricey. My advice is to just order a bottle of wine and a cheese plate. It's hard to mess that up. If you want French food, go to L'Albatross or Chez Francois. I'd give them both a 9. The food at Tartine gets a 5 at best.
We've been to Tartines many times over many years but last night was the last night we'll go there and we won't go back. First, about a quarter of the bar is set up with bar supplies so patrons can't sit there. It looks sloppy and messy. Second, the service was terrible. We sat at the bar and the bartender was inattentive. Once our food was put in front of us she never asked if we needed anything Fresh ground pepper on our salads would have been nice but was never offered and we couldn't get the bartenders attention to ask. Our pizza we ordered wasn't what we asked for. It had no red sauce on it, no sopresetta on it and the dough wasn't cooked on the bottom. We would have asked for red sauce on the side but we couldn't get the bartender's attention to ask. The menu has been paired down and prices marked up over the years. The experience is really not worth it anymore.
I went to Tartine with some friends last night (Thursday) for a nice dinner. It exceeded my expectations. Service was great and the food was delicious. The portions were were generous too. They had live music which was a nice added touch. I would recommend coming here!
I truly love seeing restaurants having alternative substitutions for folks that cannot have dairy and vegan options. It 's the inclusivity for me. I went during brunch for my first visit. I ordered a crêpe with braised beef, tomatoes, and cheese. The beef was very tender and overall the flavors were delicious. It was jampacked it with cheese. My side was the hash browns cooked to extra crispy. Overall my dish was delicious and I was pleased with it. My guest order the sweet crepe with berries, whip cream and almond. The sweet crepes didn 't hit the mark compare to the savory crepe that I order. Not only was it missing the whip cream but it overall needed something else. However the green beans my guest order were delicious with the notes of lemon zest and cripsy in the fresh way had me reaching for more. If you are in a hurry, beware service was on the slower side of the spectrum. The staff was nice and helpful. They have lovely outdoor seating section perfect spot to enjoy the summer and fall weather we have in Cleveland. Overall, my experiences was pleasant, and I look forward to coming back and trying out their dinner menu.
