Bidra med feedbackWe had a delightful set menu lunch here. Everything was perfect! Great value. There are a range of menu options and a less formal section. Something for everyone. Rodez has lots of interest with its gardens and museums.
Lovely staff - food - wine - coffee - very modern looking - like eating in the future - and good value too!
We arrived at the Musee Soulages after a long hot day doing the museums of Rodez and were a bit dismayed to find only a very chic Michel Bras Café in the Museum. All we wanted was a glass of cool water, surly this would be much too menial a task for these people. But we were desperate and needed refreshment. I asked could we just have some cool sparkling water. "But of course" said the lady in charge with a big smile and ushered us to a seat. The water it turned out was from their own source and came in a tall elegant bottle with a sliced lemon. It was exactly what we wanted and served in this cool premises with dragon flies feeding in the pool it was exactly what we needed to be restored. The nice surprise was that the charged us just €5.60 for our two elegant waters which we felt was very reasonable. Well done Café Bras.
Trading heavily on the storied Bras name, Café Bras tries to be many things, but ends up being mostly a disappointment. The one element that doesn't disappoint is the setting and decor. Clearly the goal was to create a chic, sleek environment one expects in a museum café, and in this they succeeded. One also expects only average food and service in a museum café, and in this they have also succeeded. It's obvious the staff are poorly supervised; they only want to take your order and be done with you. Should you dare ask a question, don't be surprised if your answer is a fine Gallic shrug; servers are either not provided information about the menu, or they don't care to share it.In the walk-in "comptoir", the menu is overwrought and difficult to navigate. And don't bother asking at 11:05 if you can order something from the 9:00 to 11:00 section of the menu. Non! Avoid the Miwam, a Bras "culinary invention", which tastes a lot like it contains a hearty portion of the cardboard upon which it is served. In the restaurant section, the menu offers limited choices, which are sometimes good, sometimes not. On one visit, the choices were so limited there were none; after going through the pain of reserving for the restaurant, we were handed "comptoir" menus and flatly informed that the restaurant menu was not on offer that day.I suppose my main beef with the place is that a person could rightfully expect more from the Bras name, given the incredible food and service on offer at the Bras restaurant in Aubrac. Because of that, after my first disappointing experience at Café Bras, I returned on the assumption that they (and perhaps me) were having a bad day. But after my fourth (and final) visit, I can only conclude that it's not going to improve.Truly a shame.
After visiting the amazing Soulage collection, we booked to eat at the Cafe Bras. The booking was done a month in advance online, extremely efficient service, confirmation sent immediately, re-confirmation the morning of the event etc.It is a big restaurant with many tables serving up to 80 people at a time. This makes the restaurant very noisy unfortunately. The servers were mostly very attractive and polite young ladies, with full attention to customers, friendly without being familiar. The order was taken quickly and the service was very efficient. As for the food, although it was imaginative,it lacked something. Well prepared, well presented but without the magic. The wine we chose was a local one and quite good and reasonably priced. I understand that one could not expect the quality of the restaurant Bras in a cafe/restaurant as it is one fifth of the price and serving so many people at the same time must play on the quality of the dishes.
