Bidra med feedbackIt's best to visit when the sun is shining, as the grounds are quite expansive. The walled garden is one of the finest we've seen, and in the spring, it will be bursting with color. While the house itself is interesting, the real highlight of this historic location is the surrounding area. There are lovely walking paths, including one along the River Test.
The restaurant features stunning gardens and a lovely riverside setting where you can enjoy feeding ducks along the way. Jude's ice cream is a perfect treat on a hot day, and the cafes ensure you're well-fed and hydrated during your strolls. June is a wonderful time to visit, as the air is filled with the delightful scent of blooming roses.
Let's summarize. It's January, and as National Trust members who live locally, we visit the gardens up to a dozen times a year. Each season offers something new to experience. Right now, the gardens are quite "strong" as we enter winter, but we can already see early signs of spring. One thing that remains consistently excellent is the National Trust's outdoor bags, which are always a great choice.
National trust, worth a visit, only the first stage was open when I went, as I wanted to see the Christmas decoration, wonderful. guides were very informative, interesting and enthusiastic to speak. there are 2 caffes in front of location, a beautiful small second bookstore, and generous lands, able to highly recommend in autumn.
Another visit here on our way back from Southampton. Sadly it was just after storm Eunice some paths and areas were closed. Still a very pleasant 3 hours strolling around the grounds and looking at the interior of the house. Particularly enjoyed the cartoon art exhibition on the top floors which is on till early March 22.
