Big Bowl-rosedale Mall - Roseville

We had a reservation and when we got there we could see open tables but they it would be about 5 minutes. So we waited and then went back to the hostess who seemed oblivious. We waited some more and then finally got our table. It was right by the door and very drafty. It took a while fir our server to come over and then she had to go hunt down a pen. It was obvious they were short staffed so we understanding. When we got our food it was not very hot. In the reservation I had out we were celebrating a birthday. No one mentioned anything about it at Big Bowl. The server just brought over our check. Did not ask if we wanted any after dinner drinks or dessert. This used to be my favorite restaurant. Unfortunately, not anymore. Disappointed

We 've had dinner at Big Bowl about 20 times, but it 's been a long time since pre-COVID. A lot has changed! They removed their famous big bowl build your own bowl bar, and replaced with a chef 's choice. That part if fine, but as a customer I miss picking out all my own vegetables. The new chicken is terrible! The old crispy chicken was pan fried to absolute perfection, a highlight of the meal. The new crispy chicken is nasty battered and deep fried with tons of salt. Big Bowl quality is now more aligned than the #1 Chinese strip mall restaurant in America, and has lost it 's edge.

All our meals were very, very good. I get the Panang Curry Chicken (minus the fresno peppers to cut the spice down) every time, and it never disappoints!!

Dining here is somewhat pricey, but the portion sizes are generous for the cost. I really miss the self-serve bar where you could grab your own veggies.

Fantastic spot to gather for delicious Chinese and wok cuisine!
