The Office Lounge - Rye

The Office provided a fantastic experience. True to its name, it has a relaxed lounge vibe. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The ambiance during dinner is nice, with a moody and intimate atmosphere. We enjoyed several cocktails, sushi, and the chicken parmesan entree. For appetizers, I highly recommend the Jilly roll (sushi), tuna tataki, and bang bang cauliflower—everything we tried was delicious. The cocktails are unique and absolutely tasty as well!

The waitstaff are friendly and pleasant, but their timing leaves something to be desired, especially when it comes to sushi orders. I found that service tends to improve significantly when you have a reservation. During one visit, we waited over 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive; we had walked in and assumed they’d seat us, but it felt like they just overlooked us, which likely points to poor operational practices. I always thought that selling more, rather than less, would be the key to success. We've had good experiences on our first three visits, but the last two have been increasingly disappointing. My family was quite let down during our most recent Saturday night visit. Despite there not being many patrons, it took close to 35 minutes for our drinks to arrive and almost an hour for us to receive our food. I would highly recommend they implement a reservation-only policy, except for bar seating.

This is a truly unique spot. The food is fantastic, and the service is excellent. If you’re looking to meet new people, this is a great place for that. The atmosphere is really enjoyable as well. If you find yourself in Rye, New Hampshire, skip the traffic and hassle of heading to the beach and check out this charming little restaurant located in the mall next to The Inn at Rye.
