Shiki Sushi - Saanich

My friend and I went in smiles and friendly and were hit by a surly rude and smiling waitress who held two fingers to confirm that we were a party of two, then led us to a table near a garish spotlight that was away from the (neureren part of the dining room. when I politely asked if we could sit in the other opposite, she said very rudely that the table has to be cleaned there and “I have no time!” we sat there ignored for a few time until another waitress named celia took us to a better table that had to be wiped away only with a cloth, not extinguished. I ordered tempo and rainbow roll. the tempura was heavy, greasy, diligent and the yam inside was oily. I've never had such a terrible pace. the tempura in other Japanese restaurants is light and crispy. that was the opposite. the rainbow roll was ok, but it was a miniature roll in comparison to other restaurants where they are slightly twice as big. the Sashimi pieces on the roll were extremely small. celia was pleasant and a good server, but based on the poor quality of food, the extremely rude hostess/waitress and the Scottish worn chairs and overall unimpressive eating experience, I do not recommend this restaurant and I advise everyone to go here to take their business elsewhere. that was not a pleasant experience at all.

We have visited this restaurant a few times for lunch, but this was our first time having dinner there. We originally planned on having a regular meal, but the staff suggested the all-you-can-eat option. Both of us decided to go for it, and we ended up trying dishes we might not have ordered otherwise. The oyster moyakato was particularly outstanding, and all the sushi we tried was fresh and delicious. One tuna dish in particular was amazing. We highly recommend trying it out, and we will definitely be returning in the future.

Second time coming here and it was not a good experience. Our first time we discovered this place and was pleasantly surprised. Went back a second time and it was such a different experience. One of the waitress was absolutely horrible, ignoring us and even...waving us off. If you are not our server, at least have the decency to ask our server to come to our table. Had to walk up and asked for dish for our dipping sauce. Worse was the wait for food, took forever to get to our table. Food was ok, was not worth the wait. Will not return.

We have visited Shiki Sushi 6 times in the last 2 years and have introduced many of our friends to it as well! (16 to be exact We have always had exceptional experiences with the restaurant. Tonight was different. The food was nothing to complain...about, it was as delicious as always! But the service was TERRIBLE. Our server, Jai Jai was far from friendly. She didn’t smile one time during our 2 hours there. She was not personable and the customer service was distasteful. She missed things in our order and didn’t not apologize for her mistake. The food took FOREVER to be delivered to our table when the restaurant was not busy. The drinking water was warm, the table was sticky from previous customers, there were no napkins... the list goes on. We had to get up from the table at least 8 times to ask her for things. She also told us we could not order anymore food from the “all you can eat” menu when our 2 hours were not up. Lastly, she did not tell us there was an auto gratuity on our bills and we double tipped her and she would not give us the second tip back! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE this time as you can see... Atleast the food was good when we finally got it.

This is my first day in Victoria. I went to this restaurant for lunch today. I was welcomed and served cordially and effectively. However, the food was just acceptable, perhaps just appropriate for a fast lunch. I had a tempura box (two shrimps, some vegetables,...rice and a Miso soup). The place is dark and gloomy. First and last visit.
