Bidra med feedbackFirst off, the decor left much to be desired. It didn't feel like fine dining—while it was clean and modern, it lacked the romantic and classy ambiance one anticipates. Instead, it resembled an upscale diner or a casual spot where one might grab a complimentary breakfast at a hotel. Unfortunately, the food mirrored this lack of sophistication. We ordered the bread (which felt surprising to have to pay for at this level), roasted oysters, garlic shrimp, and grilled octopus. The bread was delightful—warm and chewy, served with an excellent pear jam. However, the appetizers were overpriced and mostly bland. The octopus had a decent portion size and was perfectly tender, but it was served cold and lacking in flavor. I ended up eating half of it rather than waiting for a replacement, as I feared a reheating might result in an even worse dish. It was presented with an unappetizing, odd gray sauce that did nothing to enhance its visual appeal. The shrimp were acceptable but felt like something you’d find at a lower-end seafood restaurant, not worth the premium prices we paid. As for the oysters, they were truly disappointing—bland and oddly cooked, not satisfying at all. I almost sent them back, but considering it was our honeymoon, I opted not to. For our main courses, we selected the duck breast and a bison ribeye. To be fair, they were decent, featuring good flavors and executed well, but again, they came with a premium price tag. The highlight of the meal was the side of French fries, which were hot, crunchy yet tender, perfectly salted—definitely among the top two or three fries I’ve had anywhere. We opted to skip dessert. The service was friendly, but it was somewhat inefficient; for example, regular water refills took too long and there were other minor issues. Overall, I can’t recommend Maritana Grille as it felt overpriced for what we received.
"The appetizers, salads, and small plates were excellent. However, the main entrees were just average and felt overpriced. The service was good, but it was a bit slow."
The meal was excellent. I highly recommend the bison steak and red fish. However, the prawns were disappointing. The service staff were exceptional.
HORRIBLE! What have you done?! Maritana used to be the BEST restaurant in town, without question. Now, I’m simply not going back. The renovation is horrible, it cheapened the restaurant and experience, and certainly does not elegant nor refined. The food? Horrendous. Underwhelming menu, and the quality was atrocious. I’m just don’t understand why? Why did you ruin what used to be an incredible experience for all the senses? Whoever decided to make these changes is simply, and sadly, a fool. You never fix what is not broken. I am truly sad at the passing of the Maritana. I just hope it resuscitates someday.
We stayed at the hotel, Don Cesar. I inquired about an earlier reservation. They were busy but they found a time a little earlier. When another one opened even earlier, they called us and let us know. Very nice. Food was delicious and waiter, Jeff, recommended a great wine when the one I requested was discovered to be out. Have already recommended the restaurant.
