Bidra med feedbackI was so excited to stay here because I love salado however I was so disappointed and canceled my stay. The grounds and lobby are adorable and welcoming. Our first room looked like it wasn't cleaned entirely the glasses were dirty, crumbs on the table, and crumbs on the bed. I asked for another room which was granted and very much appreciative. However, the second room had dog hair all over the day bed, the bed itself had dog and human hair, and there was a mouse dropping. The lobby and the workers there were helpful and understanding, but I can't get over the low cleaning standards, especially for the price I was paying. Edit: I'm attempting to upload pictures but it's not working. I'll upload when I'm able.
The organization of this place leaves much to be desired. The rooms do not justify the high prices; I believe the suite is only worth around $65, including breakfast. Parking is a challenge, and moving around the area isn't easy. To make matters worse, the restaurant is closed for breakfast on Sunday mornings. The air conditioning didn't function properly, the phone in the room was broken, the refrigerator was dirty, and we were only provided with two awful instant coffees in plastic cups. Some of the units appeared to be boarded up. We ended up being late for a wedding because our keys failed to work.
For our 13th wedding anniversary, we chose to stay in Salado, which is conveniently only 20 minutes from home and offers plenty of charming options for a nice getaway. We opted for the Shady Villa Hotel, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. Our room was peaceful and cozy, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we've encountered while traveling, ensuring we had a great night's sleep. I highly recommend this hotel; it was immaculate and situated near various dining and entertainment options, all within walking distance.
I had high expectations for this property, as it has been uniquely renovated and boasts beautiful grounds. Unfortunately, it seemed there was a shortage of staff, resulting in a general lack of hospitality, except for the wonderful young man at the pool bar. Upon check-in, I wasn’t informed that there would be no housekeeping during my two-night stay, which may have contributed to the presence of cockroaches. While the on-site restaurant offered some quality dishes, nothing could offset the appalling behavior of what I assume was the manager, an older woman. Overall, it was a truly disappointing experience.
They did a great job with the remodel! The Shady Villa is the anchor of downtown Salado! Cons: The AC struggled to keep up. The room is at 75 during the day and gets down to 70 in the middle of the night. It was 100 outside so it?s not really the hotels fault. The interstate is 200 yards away. The road noise is can be loud in the middle of the night. They do include white noise generators which helped. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Will definitely come back, but when it?s cooler.
