Alamexo - Salt Lake City

Excellent Mexican food. A much different approach than Red Iguana.

Alemexo has the best sauces and mole and we love everything about it, especially the fresh, made at your table, Guacamole.

I can't get enough! Today was my first time not getting the table-side guacamole (a must if its your first visit here) but chose the queso fundito instead. Now I will have to flip a coin as to which one I get going forward. Everyone at my table chose the ribeye steak done up only the way Alamexo could do, and cleaned their plates. If here is such thing as a Ruths Chris in Mexico, I would imagine the ribeye being served like this there. I chose my old standby of the shrimp and scallops. It is the only dish served with the arros con leche (I think that's rice cooked in milk), and it in itself is the star of the restaurant in my mind. Well worth a trip for a group, and even a first date as it is quiet enough to chat, and there's enough going on around (outside) to spark a dull conversation.

There were 4 of us and the spicy guacamole was made fresh at our table and was delicious. We ordered beef Barbacoach tacos, shrimp and scallop dish, pescados mixto, and tortilla mushroom pie and all of the dishes were done perfectly. Their low rider margaritas were also freshly made from real ingredients instead of bottled mix. Our server was very knowledgeable and personable which made the evening perfect. Highly recommend Alamexo!

Love this place. It's tough to find clean Mexican food, and they do a great job with that. Tableside guacamole is awesome, and their list of tequilas is also awesome. Not too spendy, and the staff is friendly.
