Bidra med feedbackThe food here is exceptional and inventive, set in a truly beautiful location. It's uncommon to come across such a delightful establishment in an area with limited fine dining options. This place would be considered top-notch, even in a culinary hotspot.
I did not get the exact table I requested when I made the reservation two months ahead of time, but there was a large group that probably required that table.
We ordered a really nice bottle of wine that took ages for them to locate; it was stored at too cold a temperature and didn’t begin to open up until after our appetizers. Even then, the wine was just okay. At twice the price of Caymus, we expected something truly special. As for the food, it was not good for any of the three of us, and for a place aiming for Michelin one-star status, we had higher expectations. My husband had a pasta dish, my son ordered the duck, and I had the filet. The highlight was the homemade linguine in a lovely white sauce with a delightful pepper flavor. The filet was an average cut of meat without any special sauce or preparation. The potatoes tasted like they had been made days earlier, and there were four overcooked Brussels sprouts. My son’s duck was tough and tasteless, and my husband's dish was disappointing as well. For dessert, we had a very homemade German chocolate cake that was dry and frankly terrible. When you're spending $800 for a special occasion, you expect much more.
The meal was exquisite; everything was delicious! The ambiance and service were also top-notch!
We had a wonderfully enjoyable evening at Newmans, which came highly recommended, and it did not disappoint. It's best to go with a group, so you can share the delicious dishes with one another.
