Bidra med feedbackAfter reading all of the great reviews, we were quite disappointed with our dinner at Mux. The food was just average. (It was our least favorite meal of our week in Mexico City. Service was adequate, but not great. Given how much thought and intention appears to be put into this restaurant concept, we were surprised to have such an underwhelming experience.
This was one of the most interesting restaurants I 've tried in a long time. Gets four stars instead of five because more interesting than delicious. Having said that, worth trying especially for mixed vegetarian nonveg or all-veg groups as many choices, not afterthoughts. We went as a family of 4 and to start the price of about MX$1900 or just over 100US was exceptionally fair for a lot of interesting food. Favorite dish was the chicken stewed in mezcal and pineapple, very rich flavor and delicious. Drinks were interesting. I had the cristal citrus cocktail, kind of a mandarin martini. Initiallydidn 't like at all but surprisingly to me went super well with the food. Wife had the mezcal berry Mux mezcalita which we both thought was ok but neither loved. Enchiladas, the other main dish (vegetarian, cheese only, which is how they come) were in a thick and strongly-flavored mole, but a bit too austere for our tastes perhaps spoiled by sweeter nuttier versions. Squash (summer squash, green) soup was ok but not a ton of flavor. Esqites and nopal salads were fine but to our taste unremarkable. Someone less hooked on intense flavors might really delight in this place. For me it was a good evening but not a super-memorable one, food wise.
