I was excited to find this vegan restaurante in the Centro Historico on a back street just a few blocks from the Alameda park and the Museo de Arte Popular. The sign out front says it has been around since 1993 so that is a good sign. Comida corrida options with salad, soup, main dish, side, dessert and tea, most for 85 pesos. Most are vegan takes on Mexican favorites such as milanesa or tacos al pastor. Tasty food and a great value. Restaurant is located in an apartment building one floor up from the street so it is quieter. The server seemed surprised to see an American there. Hopefully with this review some other American vegetarian tourists will give it a try. Restaurant is cash only and menus and staff are monolingual Spanish.
Incredibly good food. For the reviews that said it was home cooked and not restaurant quality, I prefer home cooked. Also, they will take a huge amount of time to try to explain the menu to you. With all the translation apps, it's really your fault if you don't understand the menu.
Good food. Just hard to locate because it's on the second floor and there are no signs. They don't take credit card so make sure to bring cash.
This was the best vegetarian restaurant I went to in Mexico City. Amazing food at unbelievable prices (a whole meal for a couple bucks! The staff was friendly and prompt and helped me understand the menu as I speak little Spanish. I hope the very best for this little but mighty restaurant!
