Bidra med feedbackGreat hidden place with a very nice family-owned vibe in Japantown. Came here pretty late at night near their closing time with a large group, but we still got amazing service despite how late it was. Prices are expected from Korean places, but serving is nice and they also have great banchan. Spicy level was nice for the tofu soup as well!
Great Seafood bibimbamp! Came in a sizzling hot stone bowl that helped cook the rice in a good crunchy way. Great combination of seafood, rice, vegetables, and egg! Also came with the ban chan appetizers provided and the tofu skins were good Vibes are good for lunch or dinner with friends!
Doobu Restaurant in San Francisco's Japantown is an interesting spot that I recently checked out on a Tuesday evening at 7 pm. The first thing that caught my attention was the surprisingly empty interior, despite the prime dinner hour. It was easy to find a seat with many options available. Service at Doobu is commendable; the staff is efficient, and the food is prepared with a swift turnaround. However, the aspect that left me a bit hesitant was the pricing. The menu leans towards the higher side, and considering the relatively small portion sizes, it felt a tad pricey. Speaking of portions, they are on the smaller side, which might not be everyone's cup of tea. The flavors of the dishes were decent, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that it didn't quite justify the cost. If you're looking for a quick bite with good service, Doobu could fit the bill, but be prepared for the potential dent in your wallet.
Food: beef tofu soup: pretty good, just like any other tofu soup Service: pretty good the waitress was very kind and sweet, but it took a bit longer to get her attention if I needed something (ex. Napkins/check) since she was the only one working as a waitress at the time Ambiance: not bad, nothing much to say about it Price: it's actually pretty pricey for what it is in my opinion, and when I looked at yelp reviews for this place, it said that the price was a lot cheaper (you can make your own judgement, it was $21 for this meal total)
Came here on a quiet Saturday afternoon, off hours for meal times. Service was insanely fast. Immediately seated and almost immediately served food after ordering. Maybe no more than 10 minutes in between walking in and taking my first bite! Beef Doobu: I ordered the beef doobu The soup came piping hot (see the attached video), which was a good sign, still bubbling even! Unfortunately, the soup was fairly diluted, so it was tough to judge the flavor. There also weren't many slivers of beef the pieces that did exist weren't very flavorful either, possibly due to the diluted soup. For what it's worth, other reviews seem to compliment the bibimbaps more, so I may have just ordered the wrong dish. Side dishes: Not bad! These side dishes hit all of my favorites, so nothing to complain about here. The restaurant was decently clean, well furnished, and cozy. The location is pretty solid too, smack dab in the middle of Japantown. If I came back, I would definitely try a different dish however!
