Bidra med feedbackIt wasn't our first choice today. We were going to another place. The line was very long and we decided not to wait. We went only 5 minutes away and found Rusty’s. Why there is no line here. I will say that the land fried steak on the menu was my personal hook to get me into the door. We went in and the place has character and was joined with love. A beautiful young lady set us up. Melissa became our server and the dinner was a perfect start. Even when we came in, I noticed that they had cookies so I had to try it out. As a chef who grew up in Oklahoma, you know that I can make a cookie that is thrown down every moment. Rusty didn't disappoint me. Yes I ordered my country fried steak. Wow a place in California that doesn't think that's something you're pulling out of the freezer. The Brussel sprouts we are crisp and very tasty. The other plate we ordered was the BBQ Brisket. OMG, that was an exit storage lane. I just know you can only get this on Wednesday nights. This was on site and extremely tasty. Melissa told us about all the other wonderful things we have to try. We have a group of friends coming together Friday night and guess where we will go!!! Thanks to Rusty and Melissa for eating one of our new favorite places in San Francisco. It is within walking distance for us. We save space for the Banane Putting on Friday night!!!!
As a transplant from the south, I had abandoned everything, but on Southern food in the Bay. Then Rusty's came. The short review is that Rusty's Southern is exceptional. Authentic Southern Tariff cleverly executed, with the kind of respect for ingredient and food heritage you will find in some of the best restaurants in the south. The expected plates were all big – buttermilk biscuits, fried chicken, pickled veggies, deviled eggs, chicken fried steak, pimento cheese, etc. It was also fantastic to see as many authentic ingredients on the menu like Benne, Hoppin 'John, tomato engraving, pepper jelly, boiled peanuts and cereals from Anson Mills. The BBQ deserves a special mention because it is the NC-style Q I had on the west coast. Hickory smoked, chopped Boston Butt with a simple Lexington sauce. It does not quite reach the heights of some of the best pits in the Carolinas, but hey, you do what you can with construction codes. If you like pig BBQ, there's nothing in the bay. Eating aside, everything else in Rusty's is also on point. Chill Vibe, friendly atmosphere, and a large bar choice. The restaurant is perfect for a date, a meal w/ the Fam or dinner in a group. Rusty co – you made this southern child much less homesick.
Look at this place on check, please, Bay Area, so we thought we'd eat there. Very impressed by the welcoming feeling you are greeted with, and the food was delish! Stayed for breakfast... even better than the first meal. One of my top recommendations for extra-city travellers to SF. Keep it!
What an amazing treat and experience! The owner, Rusty and his staff were great and the food was perfect. A few in our group even enjoyed some southern desserts. Nice presentation and service. We all recommend a page of hush puppies!! Thanks Rusty's Southern!
The staff in general and specifically our server were all very attentive and the food was exceptional. If you like real Southern food this is the place to go.
