Bidra med feedbackI do love the Hops and Hounds. You can bring your dog and listen to live music or do trivia on some nights. The vibe is cool and casual, the customers are usually great. Food is above average for junk food like burgers. Bar staff is very attentive but it sometimes take a long time to get a drink from outside.
I like this place, great atmosphere and good drinks. This place is also very convenient to my house, I like it as a bar. I do not like it as a restaurant. We found hair on our food once assuming dog hair and once our food appeared to be old. And also the front door says absolutely no dogs inside we have seen dogs inside multiple times. We also see the wait staff petting the dogs, I can 't confirm they washed their hands or not!!!
I've visited severalal times, but it seems like the atmosphere has gotten worse over time. It started with blasting music at a dog friendly place.. Since dogs have more sensitive hearing, that doesn't seem too pet friendly. The final straw was trying to charge a cover to grab some dinner with my dogs and kids. Doubt we'll ever be back.
This was our third visit to Hops Hounds, and it 's as fun as ever for our hound. It 's located on Jones-Maltsburger north of McAlister Park and next door to a barbecue place. The main thing the patrons have in common is that we love our dogs, and on a Saturday night, it was tricky to find a parking place. Additionally, a no-kill animal shelter was available with a number of pups for adoption. There are two sections reserved for customers to bring their small and large hounds to play and recreate on exercise platforms. Also, there is a good view of a golf driving range nearby. In the outdoor dining area, there are plenty of picnic tables, and dogs are welcome, too. It 's easy to secure a leash to the table if needed. Those green plastic bags one sees in parks are available if your companion needs it, but in our three visits, I 've never noticed a need. And they can be used for dogs, too!The menu is plentiful and not un- usually expensive. But nothing is ordinary, and the burgers can compete with any well-known burger restaurant in town. Chicken wings, including boneless, are served with tater tots to order. There are filling special salads as well. Hops Hounds is known for the hops, but soft drinks with free refills are available as well. I 've included a pic of the menu. Of course, we always eat outdoors with our hairy beast, but indoor dining is also available.BTW, all, and I mean all, of the restaurant staff were kind and helpful. Also, as we were leaving, a gentleman with a 12-string guitar was playing and quite good.Even, if you don 't bring a puppy, you probably will enjoy the atmosphere.Vegetarian options: There were salads available along with some other vegan products.Kid-friendliness: Perfect for kids if they are familiar with dogs as pets.Parking: On my last visit on a Sunday afternoon, I could not find a single marked space; I parked at an angleat the edge of the parking lot.Wheelchair accessibility: I didn 't see many spaces, but I believe I saw two at the main entrance. My wife is eligible for one, but all were being used. Doors to the restaurant area were wide enough, but I 'm not sure about accessibility to the indoor restaurant from the parking lot.
Went to go check this place out with my GF recently and to chat with management about the upcoming pride event with Alamo City Pit Bull Rescue. What an amazing place with fantastic service and pina colada and margarita flights! Can't wait to go back and hang more in the cool patio area outside. Thank you for your great hospitality and service!
