What a lovely surprise to have such a delicious meal at this little restaurant. The menu is small - steak, sausage or chicken, plus nice to see a vegetarian option! I had a hamburger (without bun) which was beautifully served and tasted delicious. The service was excellent and we were made very welcome. Will definitely return to try some of their other dishes.
Sergio es el propietario y chef de la Gauchería. Sergio tiene amplia experiencia en la gastronomía ya que es originario de Uruguay y es uno de los fundadores de la cocina que ha dado fama a la colonia Condesa en la Capital de México. Estas credenciales le han permitido acreditar en poco tiempo al restaurante La Gauchería ubicado sobre la carretera a Chapala en la pintoresca población de San Antonio Tlayacapan. La gastronomía de Uruguay es una fusión de la comida española, italiana y criolla. En su confección interviene la carne de res como ingrediente de primer orden, así como el pan y los vegetales, además de otros deliciosos ingredientes. Le recomiendo probar El Chivito, Un delicioso baguette confeccionado con carne de res a la plancha, queso mozzarella, lechuga, tomate, cebolla cocida, rodajas de huevo y mayonesa adornado con una aceituna. Si lo acompaña con un tinto Malbec tendrá una deliciosa comida a un precio razonable. Conocer la gastronomía de otros países resulta una experiencia muy agradable y en La Gauchería quedará fascinado con la cocina del Uruguay.
The menu selections, while limited in number compared to many at lakeside, were all creative and were all reasonably priced. No soup of the day was available,for example. The food we ordered was excellent. Condiments were also very tasty and a little beyond the local tortilla and salsa others in the area offer, as slices of toasted fresh bread were also served. The sandwich I ordered included pieces of grilled tender and juicy sirloin together with all of the fixings on a king sized bun. My only small critique is that the restaurant is a little on the small size - and when there are a lot of guests, as was the case today, guest conversations can become a little loud at times. I wish to proprietor all the best in growing this business.
We stopped in on a Monday night before they closed, we didn't know at the time we came in. They gladly seated us and gave us (party of 4) great service explaining the menu and then wowed us with tenderloin bliss! I love steak and that was a good steak. It was cooked to perfection, served with grilled onions and mushrooms and house made mashed potatoes and a small but artfully arranged salad with house made dressings. We enjoyed every bite! Then came desert! Dark chocolate raspberry torte that was truly amazing, not too sweet and just right with heavy cream and caramel on the side. My aunt ordered the house made flan and it was amazing too. You must give this place a try, you will enjoy it.
