Riviera - San Clemente

We ate at Riviera about a year ago and had a fantastic experience with food, drinks, and service all excellent. Our second time going this past week was very different. The food was ok, but unexceptional. The drinks were the same. Service was excellent, but perhaps that was because we were one of only three occupied tables in the entire restaurant. For the cost of the meal it was just not worth it. I'm not sure what has happened to this establishment but my wife and I both agreed we're not going back.

Nice choices on the menu. Service was good. Hotel guests and looks like a local's hangout.

My burger was awful. Very raw and not the flavor like last time we were there. Bun was cold and not good. Shoestring fries were limp and not good. My friend’s order came out super late due to waitress error. No offer to comp an appetizer or give us a dessert. We know the main chef wasn’t there but this was beyond disappointing. Used to be our new fav place.

The food was just ok. The short ribs pasta was mushy. Service was slow even though the restaurant was fairly empty.

We were very surprised and pleased Wilton the setting and food. The food was well above average.
