Bidra med feedbackLolitas has been a stable in my diet for over 15 years. They only use locally sourced ingredients and prepare everything from scratch. No wonder their carne asada fries are the best!? Tsunami fries: crispy fries, loaded with carne asada, shrimp, guac, sour cream.? Fish taco: grilled flakey basa, cabbage, pico de gallo? Chicken salad: juicy chicken with an unbelievable verde dressingIf you are looking for some tasty authentic Mexican food without paying the restaurant price, definitely stop my Lolitas!
Wow. Over the years they’ve really upgraded the facility. The decor is slicker. The condiment station is spacious and clean. And the outdoor seating is hip now. But at the core, the food is where it’s at. And I always have patience to come here to get some carne asada fries.
Had one special request when we ordered online for a member of our group who had a dairy intolerance. Upon getting the food home this request was ignored. Ironically it was printed on the top of the receipt they included in the bag.Burrito was very lacking in filling but tasted fresh.I attempted to call the establishment to advise them about the error but apparently between 6pm and 8pm they don't answer the phone and only take online orders.
Everyone ravesss about this place. I've been twice. First time, it wasn't memorable.I just went again recently with my cousins from out of town. They were willing to drive an hour for the carne asada fries. They came out and we tried them.Me: Does it taste like you remember them? Her: Yes!Well then, what I ate was the expectation. Very mediocre, definitely not memorable. I would only come back if others insisted. Most likely try it again but it'll never be on the top of my places to go in SD.
So this is the spin off of the famous Roberto's taco shop. I had heard they are almost better than my favorite Roberto's. The decor is very modern and clean. I dined at the Clairmont location. To my surprise my bean and cheese burrito was lukewarm, the cheese was unmelted, also they don't grill the flour tortilla like Roberto's does. My beans almost seemed thick and dehydrated like it was from the bottom of the Vat. I can tell their food is quality, but there is some inconsistency. The chips and guacamole were fresh and delicious. This always confirms to me Roberto's taco shop is king, always a real treat.
