Bidra med feedbackI've been frequenting this place during my commutes from Castro to the East Bay, and I'm really glad I discovered it. Without a doubt, they serve some of the best bagels I've found in the Bay Area. I usually go for the lox spread, which is both affordable and satisfying. You can enjoy your meal there or easily grab it to go and catch the BART. They also offer great coffee; last time I visited, I had a delicious mocha with rich, enjoyable chocolate. They have a wide selection of bagels, and I think they're toasted just right. The atmosphere is laid-back, and even though the area can be cold and windy, this place always warms me up. It's a nice spot to relax, chat with a friend, or do some light reading. The service is quick, and I know I can always rely on the team at Katz to provide me with a great bagel and coffee.
I used to work at Superior Automotive Collision Center right across the street over ten years ago, and this was the go-to spot for our morning coffee and my personal favorite, mocha. Mike was an excellent guy, too! I had the chance to return a few years back, and I'm happy to say that their bagels and coffee are still the best I've found to date!
This is my favorite bagel spot in the city. The prices are very reasonable, and the bagels are always fresh. No need to request them toasted since they have a naturally crisp texture. Occasionally, there might be a small line outside, but the service is quick, so it’s not a problem. The staff is really friendly, even to those morning grumps who could use an extra cup of coffee.
My wife grew up in Los Angeles, and as a bagel loving person of Jewish descent, she has always complained how hard it is to find a great deli in the Bay Area. Something that compares to Canters or Nate's Al. Yes I took her to Wise and sons and other places in East Bay trying to find that perfect rugelach that wasn't too dry, no luck there. So we settled for something that seemed easier bagels. After trying many different delis and being disappointed, esp. Wise and sons, whose bagel wasn't bad but wasn't mind blowing either. When all hope was lost, we found Katz. Or she did. And the love affair has continued. I am a huge fan of everything bagel, toasted, with tomato, avocado, onion and capers. And occasionally some lox. You cannot miss this joint in the Mission with the giant bagel facade. Keep enough cash handy. I usually buy a bunch and freeze them. Somehow it tastes better when you toast a flash frozen bagel. Go figure!
Arguably best bagel spot in SF! I love the whitefish salad and house made dill cucumber and pesto garlic cream cheese. Even though we moved away from the mission, we still make the trek most weekends for a katz bagels :
