Hawgs Seafood - San Jose

This place reminds me of a restaurant by the Marina. The food is fantastic, and I’ve never been disappointed.

The meal arrived on a plate filled with approximately four cups of steamed vegetables, which served as a base. Nestled within the mound of veggies was a lovely potato-garlic mash. However, my shrimp were stuck upside down in the mash, likely due to a lack of space. Leaning against the vegetable pile was the steak, all of which was swimming in what tasted like watered-down barbecue sauce. While the steak was enjoyable, it really needed either horseradish or a quality steak sauce to elevate its flavor. Unfortunately, the broiled cheese bread was a letdown. It was slathered with what seemed to be a half-inch layer of mayonnaise, topped with a sprinkle of parmesan, and after just one bite, it was left untouched. On the bright side, the portions were very generous. On the downside, the service was inconsistent, and a better understanding of food presentation and the dishes being served would greatly enhance the dining experience and potentially elevate this restaurant to a five-star status.
