Rafael Guillermo Ricardo Barrios was born in San Juan Nepomuceno, Bolívar, a beautiful town in the Montes de María Subregion. He started playing the accordion since he was twelve years old, but in order to achieve success in his musical career, he had to struggle a lot. Before dedicating himself to music, he was an altar boy, which is why he was constantly seen at mass, since his family has always been very Catholic. Music comes to him by inheritance since his grandparents played the piano masterfully, hence his passion for the combination between the accordion and the piano, which he found in an exact way in the concertina or also called 'lyre accordion ', whose sound it 's beautiful and different from the 'normal ' accordion sound. Rafa definitively opted for this musical instrument and became an expert in its interpretation... we can all see it in the beautiful interpretations he gave in the voice of Dr. Otto Serge. He began playing in Los Caporales del Magdalena with Alfredo Gutiérrez and would later work with Adolfo Pacheco, a great composer he admires and of whom he performed various performances together with Otto Serge, such as 'El Mochuelo, Serenata, Rosario, El Mensaje, Mi Bautizo, Pasión Oculta, Julia, My Childhood and My Swan Song '. He founded Los Armónicos de Colombia. Rafa, as he is popularly known, is a true TEACHER, with capital letters, for his contribution to the vallenato folklore of our country. Songs such as 'without you ', 'canción para ti ', 'Recuerdos ', 'Calla ', 'Mejor Así ', 'Penita pena ', 'Sólo tú ' and 'Pajarillo verde ', among others, were recorded in his voice. three (3) long playing records on acetate and some singles. As a music producer, Rafa joined a group of producer musicians who sought to rescue Colombian rhythms such as porro, cumbia and vallenato... also to highlight valuable contributions and beautiful voices from those artists that others have forgotten, the first production with this The project was carried out for Elías Rosado 'La Voz de Oro ', and Manuel Vega, amateur King at the Vallenata Legend Festival (Valledupar) and King at the Villanueva La Guajira Cradle of Accordion Festival. Inició su carrera musical en Los Caporales del Magdalena junto a Alfredo Gutiérrez y posteriormente trabajó con Adolfo Pacheco, un gran compositor al que admira y con quien realizó varias interpretaciones junto a Otto Serge, como 'El Mochuelo', 'Serenata', 'Rosario', 'El Mensaje', 'Mi Bautizo', 'Pasión Oculta', 'Julia', 'Mi Niñez' y 'Mi Canto de Cisne'. Fundó Los Armónicos de Colombia. Rafa es un verdadero MAESTRO, con letras mayúsculas, por su aporte al folclore vallenato de nuestro país. En su voz triunfaron canciones como 'Sin Ti', 'Canción Para Ti', 'Recuerdos', 'Calla', 'Mejor Así', 'Penita Pena', 'Sólo Tú' y 'Pajarillo Verde', entre otras, registradas en tres discos de larga duración en acetato y algunos sencillos. Como productor musical, Rafa se unió a un grupo de músicos productores que buscaban rescatar ritmos colombianos como el porro, la cumbia y el vallenato. También se destacó por sus valiosos aportes y por devolver a la memoria bellas voces de artistas que han sido olvidados. La primera producción de este proyecto fue para Elías Rosado, 'La Voz de Oro', y Manuel Vega, Rey aficionado en el Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata (Valledupar) y Rey en el Festival Cuna de Acordeones de Villanueva, La Guajira. Actualmente, Rafa vive en San Juan Nepomuceno, su pueblo natal, pero a lo largo de su carrera ha demostrado su versatilidad incursionando en diferentes áreas, como la actuación, con un papel significativo en la telenovela 'Oye Bonita' del Canal Caracol. En estos momentos disfruta de los frutos de su trabajo al lado de su familia, pero también ha decidido compartir parte de su tiempo, anécdotas y canciones con sus amigos a través de La Casa de Rafa Restaurante Piano Bar.
