Sushi Huku - San Marcos

We usually get food to go from here, but decided to sit down and have lunch last week. We ordered three rolls and a side salad. The side salad came out first, browned iceberg with some carrot shaving and watered down mayonnaise dressing, weird but not awful I guess? Our rolls came out, two of them were inedible, the fish was going bad and there had obviously been an attempt to cover that up by adding something incredibly salty (maybe just salt?? . The third roll was ok, except for my husbands last bite. I said something since bad fish is a massive health concern. They took 20% off our bill. I still tipped accordingly, so $52 later we had a single ok sushi roll. We supported this business through the pandemic, but unfortunately that will be our last visit. Mistakes happen, but the policy should be to own up to them, not ask your patrons to pay for spoiled food. I'm sorry, for 80% of the spoiled food.

All around 5-stars! The atmosphere was great! This place is the spot that locals frequent and the sushi chefs seems to know everyone! Or maybe they are just that welcoming.We got the dinner plate with 2 options-we got the beef and salmon, came with a miso soup and a salad. We also ordered the popcorn lobster roll and the yellow tale roll both rolls were tasty. The popcorn lobster roll was topped with a hushpuppies-type balls that were very different but still tasty. My partner also got the blood orange tap beer and he loved it.A very welcoming place with delicious food! Highly recommend.

Service was great and so was the food. I usually go with my coworkers, but today I went alone since most were off so I sat at the bar. I ordered my usual, spicy sashimi salad and a lemon roll. I usually get a miso soup as well, but the weather was warm so I decided not to and instead added the scallop hand roll. Everything was delicious as always and the guys behind the bar were so nice and kept checking to see if I needed anything. I didn't eat the scallop roll so I took it to go. When I ate it later in the afternoon I wasn't too amused by it, but maybe it was because it wasn't as fresh. It was still good, but the other items I ordered were more flavorful.

Love this place. Go here again and again. Never had a problem with service. They always take out the green stuff from my daughters Miso Soup when asked and so my eight year old daughter likes to come back here as well. Its gotten to the point where they actually are pretty good at guessing as to what we are going to order. Sometthing to Try: Staple Items: Flamingo Roll, Randy Roll Specials always good but you need to order to your prferencesNew itmes: POKE BOWL.

This is pretty typical 'fast food ' sushi. Did not seem fresh at all. You can tell the base rolls are pre-made and then they 'dress ' it up with the outer fish or sauces after. The fish is cut thin and the quality was fair. My normal sushi place was closed, so I tried this place out for the first time. I would equate it to supermarket sushi. I would avoid. On a side note, my stomach was off for three days after having sushi here.
