Istanbul Rug San Rafael

I went to the San Rafael store and was greeted warmly by Mehmet and Murat who were really helpful to this first time purchaser of quality rugs. After choosing five possibles, I was invited to take my shoes off and walk on them, and literally get a feel for them . Both Mehmet and Murat were patient and kind and not at all aggressive. I walked out with two beautiful new rugs that I am excited to put in my new home.

We found the perfect rug thanks to Mehmet! He educated and guided us through the process, letting us take the time we needed. We couldn’t have been in better hands. Prompt delivery and careful installation too!

We are very pleased with Istanbul's service. Our large rugs were cleaned well, and the delivery was awesome. Mehmet And his associate carefully installed the rugs and placed the furniture on them, without at all rushing us to decide on placement of the rugs or the furniture.

We had 6 carpets cleaned and repaired; 2 kilim, 2 wool and 2 silk all of which are precious to us. Some were purchased by my wife in Nepal in the late 70's, one silk carpet was purchased by me in New Delhi in 1980, another silk carpet was purchasedin Kerala, India during an around the world year long adventure our family took in 2004. None of the carpets had ever been cleaned. I did not know how dirty they were. They look and feel beautiful now.

I brought in a Turkish Tribal Kilim that had a horrible cement stain. The cement had the chance to set overnight and I was devastated and though I had completely ruined a 4k rug. However the kind, professional folks at Istanbul Rug in San Rafael, not only cleaned it, but they hand tucked every loose thread and hand dyed each individual fiber to match the original colors and made it even better than before. To my amazement, I couldn't even tell where the original cement stain damage occurred. I would highly recommend Istanbul Rug a million times over! Thank you for saving my piece of art!!!!!!!
