White Mill Rural Heritage Centre

This charming historic gem is definitely worth a visit. There's so much to explore, from the heritage buildings that are preserved just as they were in the past to the fascinating collections of agricultural tools and machinery. Additionally, the mill, blacksmith shop, and workshops add to the experience. The friendly and helpful volunteers truly enhance the visit, making it an exceptional experience.

We visited Sandwich town and happened to spot the windmill museum as we drove by. It didn’t look like much from the outside, but we were pleasantly surprised by the knowledgeable and friendly volunteers inside. The museum features an extensive collection of farming and trade equipment from the 1700s. If you're in town, it's definitely worth a visit. My son was so inspired by the experience that he decided to build his own windmill afterwards!

What a charming venue! It's definitely worth a visit. I would suggest it's best suited for adults and curious, thoughtful children aged 7 and older. The place is managed by passionate volunteers, one of whom will give you a tour. It's an enlightening journey back in time. They are currently restoring the cap and sails, aiming to have it operational again by 2022. Don’t be discouraged by the absence of the windmill’s silhouette; there is still plenty to explore and discover. Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.

Lovely day out with the kids...educational and great cakes

This is a wonderful old windmill which is currently undergoing restoration. The millers cottage will take you back in time giving you an insight when the windmill was grinding local corn. A little gem for those with an interest in local history and windmills.
