Paraíso Caño Hondo

We like to get away from the resorts, so my wife and I rented a car for a week. We ended up in Miches and talked with some friendly locals who highly recommended this place for a few beers and a refreshing bath. It was fantastic if you want to remove from the tourist traps of DR. All natural rocks formed in small pools. We paid about $10 in CDN funds for a day pass that included parking. I wish we had arrived earlier to use the entire property. Would definitely rent a room and spend a few days next to traveling in this area of DR.

Really amazing place, we were lucky to some extent there were few tourists there so it felt like it was almost just for us. The place is amazing artistically and it's nice to explore the different levels and paths and pools.

Definitely a nice place to visit if you enjoy the nature. You can rent a kayak and go kayaking to the nice rock formations. Along the way you’ll see a lot of wildlife (especially birds and other animals. The kayak itself can be a bit challenging, at some parts you will be in open water, making it quite tough to get forward. Bring enough food/drinks and sunscreen, then you’ll have a great time! The hotel staff can help you arrange everything. The hotel itself is very nice, there are some nice fresh juices and the location is just perfect. Quiet and in the nature. The rooms are quite large and the beds are fine comfortable. If you’re looking for a nice place to stay, stop here! The food at the hotel is good as well! : . Make sure to bring some games or stuff to do the road to get here is quite long and is very bumpy at some parts. (You can easily manage to get here without 4x4, but there’s quite a long drive on a road which isn’t paved .

For an ecotourism destination, there is no place better than this. The food is awesome and people are nice. Just make sure the bring some good repellent, as the noseeums ate us alive!

Long trip but worth the while! Kudos to the landscaper!!! Very relaxing waterfalls!!!
