Chez Romy - São Luís

I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant during my holiday in Brazil. The chef was extremely friendly and walked us through the menu. The environment is absolutely lovely and I highly recommend a dinner (or more) to this beautiful restaurant. Simply the best food I had had since my arrival in Brazil 3 weeks earlier. Do I need to say more!

This is the only restaurant in Sao Luis I really look forward to returning to someday. It is so much better than Coco Bambu, Ferreira or Cabana. The chef is part of the charm and he speaks many languages, even Portuguese. This was the only place in Brazil where I found beef cooked properly. Unfortunately, they mostly offer filet. But they have fois gras!! My favorite vegetable!! Sao Luis is not a foodie destination. Bring your own salt and pepper. And coffee. They have more car washes or tire shops than coffee shops. And instant ramen passes for yakisoba.

This is a place that pays a lot of attention to details. From the very nice and homey atmosphere, to the great French Music and decor, to a very nice welcome from the hostess Joana and the incredibly delicious food of Chef Daniel Romy. Daniel used to be a Chef at a hotel in Montreaux, where he met Joana. This resulted in a love story, a lovely couple and a great food option for us who visit Sao Luis. The menu changes periodically but every dish is carefully prepared with the best ingredients and great technique. Definitely worth a visit.

A special chance to experience world class French cuisine in São Luís. Chef Romy is a true culinary artist and his wife Joana a lovely attentive hostess. Try it you will enjoy.

A French came back years later with his wife to live in São Luís and opens a french restaurant. Lovely place for romance! Menu very interesting with exquisite plates and short list of wines to go with. Not so easy to get there. Very discreet façade so going to the end of Ponta da Areia take a look at those streets to the left. I think its the 3rd or 5th. There are tasting events on thursdays, check before going.
