Ida Red's Cottage - Saugatuck

This place is fantastic! The food is incredibly tasty and healthy, all homemade. The service is excellent; I don't understand what others are complaining about. When you show respect and kindness, the staff is more than accommodating. Just because you spend money doesn’t mean you should expect to get your way all the time. The menu doesn’t change often because they are very busy. The people here are wonderful!

The service here is unacceptable. there is almost always a long wait they inform about it (there are signs, etc). the long waiting time is not the problem. a wait can be worth interacting with pleasant people who like their jobs at the end of everything, but these people are not important. they do not care about the service. they don't care about courtesy. they don't care about the customer. they don't care if they're there or not, no matter that it's your money you're spending in their facility. they don't care. the cold mood you get is that you somehow owe them that you let them eat. I thought maybe it was just a one-time experience and that I just went there on a bad day. I tried more than once. more than twice. but no more.

The waitress refused to wear a mask. not in practice social distancing. it was not a safe environment. waitress and management round. excessively poor customer service. will not return.

As a local, I had a tourist ask me where they could find a good salad. I recommended Ida Red's, and it turned out to be a big mistake. I called to check if they were open and spoke to a girl who was quite unhelpful. When I inquired about the salads on the board, she simply told me to come and look for myself before abruptly hanging up on me. As a business owner myself, I decided to call back and let the owner know how rude I had been treated, especially since I was just trying to refer someone to their restaurant. I won't be making that recommendation again.

This may be a small restaurant, but the food is extraordinary, and the staff is incredibly friendly. We never have to wait long for our meals, and we are often amazed at how quickly they manage to serve their delicious dishes. As locals, we understand that wait times can be long, so we make it a point to arrive by 8 AM if we want to enjoy breakfast, or right after 1 PM for lunch. They close at 2 PM, so if you're planning to come later, make sure to arrive by 1:30 PM to be served. The diverse breakfast menu is available all day, and even if you're not hungry, the tantalizing aromas wafting from the kitchen will surely awaken your appetite. Delicious!
