When I entered and left the restaurant, there was no good view of an employee who was both times outside smoking and drinking beer.
I got the signature shrimp and grit cakes. I wasn 't really impressed with them. The shrimp and grit cakes themselves were good, but the sauce didn 't have a good flavor at all. I also got the alligator gumbo, it also did not have a good flavor. The appetizer cajun shrimp were excellent though. I gave 3 stars for ambiance, outdoor vibe and pool tables upstairs.
We decided to have a late lunch and after a good walk around the river street, came across this place. There were some great options on the menu, we decided to try fish taco and pulled pork sandwich. Also, some nice refreshing draft beer which was on Happy hour (M-F 11am to 7pm). Both the taco and pulled pork sandwich was just great. The waitress was also super nice. Would definitely come back. There is often music here as well.
Delicious, no frills Cajun cooking. Tucked away, most of the other places on River Street were packed on a Saturday night but we found this little hole in the wall by accident, got seated immediately and proceeded to have a great meal. Our server Rayna was a doll, really genuine, who got our orders right and served us quickly. My corn crab chowder was perfect and the jambalaya couldn't have been better. We also tried the gator which was tender and the crawfish etouffee, a sage-y treat. I had two of their signature drinks, the margarita and the gin drink which I LOVED. We were a little early in the evening but Rayna invited us to come back later when the band arrived. Very sweet! We had other plans but I'm already wondering when I could have more of the chowder!!
Laid back atmosphere with great southern food. New Orleans cuisine in Savannah! Plenty to choose from on the menu at this laid back cafe, bar and late night music venue on the riverfront. The staff were friendly and service was efficient, it was quiet when we visited for lunch but things look to get quite lively later. A reliable, somewhat hidden option in the heart of the Savannah tourist trail.
