Bidra med feedbackKevin Barry's has been my go-to spot on the waterfront for over a decade and a half. I absolutely love the charm of the old building, the drink options, and the food offerings. Best of all, one can often find traditional Irish music live in the room adjacent to the bar area. The service is always good, and despite its growing popularity, Kevin Barry's is a place I make a point to visit often when I'm in the area. The food here is good. I've had the fish and chips and the buffalo chicken strips. The fish and chips were two large fish filets, nicely battered and flaky. Tartar sauce and malt vinegar made the dish sing. The chips are thin sliced potatoes battered and fried. Ask for ranch. The buffalo tenders were also nice...not too spicy, but moist inside. They came with French fries.
Typical Irish pub fare. This is a great place to grab drinks right on the river. Go to their upstairs bar, and there is an enclosed patio with a great view. Although the bar is a little dingy, they have great drink prices, and it 's a nice retreat from the other crowded River Street bars. I typically only go for the drinks, but we opted to get food this past weekend. Again, it was pretty typical bar food. I ordered their club sandwich and my boyfriend had their fish and chips. Their fries were delicious! I 'll probably stick to just coming here for drinks, but the food was decent- just a little pricey for what you get. We had excellent service!
Dropped in here because my coworker gravitates towards Irish pubs and Guinness beer which he saw a sign for. We sat in the bar area and within 5 minutes we were greeted and drink orders taken. A bit of a delay for the drinks was due to the bartender is what we were told. Ya know because Tuesday nights when it 's cool out is a busy time for this place. Anyway. They had a few beers on tap but not a whole lot of selection. A Guinness was ordered by my coworker and I had a Smithwicks draught. We put our food orders in and those eventually came out. In the meantime we entertained ourselves by reading about the history of the building and telling stories. One in my party wandered up to the 'hall of heros ' a tribute to those that have served on the second floor. This place claims to be very Military friendly. How? More on that later. Our food came out and my Shepard 's pie was almost cold. I asked around the table and all 5 of us said something to the effect of their food was definitely not hot. The sandwich (corn beef? of my co-workers was soggy. There was 5 of us and we had to work early the next day so none of us sent our food back. I thought about it but after 15 minutes of waiting for the waitress to come back I got frustrated and just went for it. My coworker mentioned his pour of Guinness was mediocre at best. I 'm not sure how it works but he said it was a single pour and not a double? I don 't know about this. Another note about my meal was the portion size was very small for the price. Not that I 'm snooty or anything, but the presentation was not good to boot. It was just a small plate that should have been put on a second plate with some sides. Oh.. I 'm a veteran they claim to be all Military friendly... We 'll, what business isn 't? I wasn 't kicked out but I surely wasn 't given preferred treatment and no mil discount either... Active, retired... Whatever. So they let some guys put stickers on some of their doors and maybe wall somewhere. I guess that 's Military friendly. I won 't be back. I 'm not sure how this place stays in business let alone be among the best Irish bars in the country or whatever that 's all about. I don 't give out one stars frequently but they earned it. If you want an okay cold beer (limited draught choices compared to the area small portions and lukewarm food. Kevin Berry 's is your place!
We did not dine here but we did have some drinks. The manager and her staff were amazing. We received a tour of the Heroes Hall which is worth a visit by itself. Then we had a few drinks served by a friendly staff. Great experience
I literally have come here every night while in Savannah from NYC. It's been the best bar I have ever traveled to during my travels. Staff was so friendly. Our waitress was Amanda. She is so sweet and such a blessing to the business. She has been professional, hospitable, and personable. Southern hospitality at its finest. I haven't had much food here. I had pretzels and fries. Both were okay. The Guinness here is fresh. Music is extraordinary. We went to listen to live music on New Years Eve 2019 and musician was great. Harry was the second musician. He was great. I am sad to say goodbye to this local place. It's such a slice of Ireland. I am so glad the liquor store recommended them as we were buying our NYE champagne. I wouldn't have known to stop in.
