Bidra med feedbackWe ate breakfast here twice on our trip. We thoroughly enjoyed both breakfasts. I loved the cinnamon french toast so much, I had to order it both times! Great coffee. Very friendly waiters.
Have gone to Shade several times and really like the burgers. They do accept reservations and you'll need it during the busy season. They have a lovely screened porch for outdoor dining or you can dine indoors.
There aren 't many dining options unless one is willing to drive back into Scarborough, so we chose to dine at Shade, the restaurant in the inn we were staying at. I 'm really glad we did! Our dinner was wonderful--I began with a half-dozen oysters (from Damariscotta) that were excellent, and followed with shrimp scampi with pasta that was perfectly al dente and shrimp that were huge. It was a wonderful entree! My husband was equally satisfied with his linguine and clams. We finished with a tasty key lime icebox pie. My pre-dinner martini was also very well prepared. The service was prompt, friendly, well-timed. The only drawback was that because of the rain the flaps for the outdoor dining tent were closed--thus creating an indoor dining experience that we 'd hoped to avoid (the flaps were opened at next morning 's breakfast, an equally satisfying meal). I 'd definitely dine here again, especially on an evening when we could count on airflow guaranteed by open windows.
Great breakfast. Huge sausages with good flavor. Highly recommend. Sorry, took pic when was 1/2 way done. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
Just not good. Extremely inconsistent. What this place needs is a little bit of competition--nearest restaurant is about five miles away. Frankly, nothing we tried was very good; but, standouts to AVOID are the clam chowder, breakfast in general, raw bar items, fish tacos and crispy anything (it won't be). Service is spotty, at best. After a few misses, we simply drove to Portland, every night, where you can swing a cat and find a good meal.
